Traditional Way To Celebrate Rakhi
  • Raksha Bandhan is celebrated during the Sharavana Purnima on the full moon day.
  • Pooja Thali contains the rakhi threads, kumkum powder, rice grains and an earthen or metal lamp called diya , incense sticks (agarbattis) and sweets.
  • The ceremony is followed by aarti which the sisters do for their brothers, apply tikka on their forehead and tie rakhi around their wrist
  • While performing the ritual, the sister prays for her brother's well being and the brother in turn blesses the sister and promises to protect her from the evils of the world.
  • In return, the brother promises to protect and take care of their sisters from all hurdles of life.
  • give her gift as a token of love.
