RAKSHA  BANDHAN
EMBODIMENT OF TWO SOULS
The festival celebrated with lot of joy, gaiety, rituals and zest. It is celebrated to commemorate the deeds of deities and saints. It symbolises the strong and protective relationship between a brother and a sister.
The chaste bond of love between a brother and a sister is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions.
RakshaBandhan is a special occasion to celebrate this emotional bonding by tying a holy thread around the wrist.
         Celebrated as
A BOND OF LOVE,
BOND OF TOGETHERNESS,
AN EMPATHY THAT BINDS OUR LIVES,
OUR HEARTS.
The brother pledges to protect the sister in every birth. To symbolise this he allows her to tie a string on his wrist.
This ceremony leaves the siblings elated with the feeling-
We gain and lose things every day,
But trust me on one thing,
You will never lose me, I’ll always be there
Sister complies so that he keeps his promise. Since the historical ages this custom is prevalent to keep a brother and sister in a relationship.

Just as the brother is bound by a promise to protect the sister after getting a string tied onto his wrist, so also the sister prays to God for his protection.
